About Intermountain Medical Center
Intermountain Medical Center began in 1997 to solve two challenges: Intermountain Healthcare's Cottonwood Hospital in Murray, UT, was aging and LDS Hospital, the company's flagship hospital at the time, was unable to expand. Between 1999 and 2002, Intermountain purchased 100 acres of land at 5300 South State Street in Murray, an ideal site because of its central location in the heart of the Salt Lake Valley, close to numerous local and national transportation options. After a 10-year planning and construction process, The Medical Center opened its doors on October 29, 2007.
At the center of all we do at the Medical Center is our intense focus on the patient. From the different advanced services provided, to the layout of our campus, and our use of the latest technologies, it's all designed to create the best care and healing environment around. In short, it's our goal to provide the absolute best patient experience.
Why work in the Operating Room?
Are you looking to grow as a Surgical Technologist? Intermountain Medical Center's operating rooms may be the perfect unit for you! We focus on providing extraordinary, individualized care for one patient at a time! In the Operating Room you won't have to care for multiple high acuity patients at once, instead you'll be able to focus all your attention, time and energy to one patient's care; easily one of the best aspects of surgical nursing.
Our department truly works as a team. We collaborate with each other to give our patients the best care possible. We are a unit that fosters growth. Each new caregiver is paired with a mentor throughout orientation, so you can safely learn the ropes with guidance from your peers. We are passionate about patient safety. We foster a culture of safety in everything we do, like the pre-incision 'time-out' to verify patient identity and procedural consent, verifying implants before delivery to the field, safely positioning and ensuring proper padding, and pausing for enough help to safely transfer patients from bed to table.
The operating room offers you an opportunity to partner with our incredible surgeons, and forge strong connections. Nurses and physicians are truly our friends in this department! If you're looking to improve your relationships with nurses and surgeons you briefly interact with during rounds, this is the place to do it! You can work shoulder to shoulder with our nurses and surgeons as you dive into scrubbing and engage in great discussions as you circulate the room. There is no better environment for physician and Advanced Practice Provider interaction than inside an operating room.
Join us in the operating room and experience your first assigned 40-minute lunch break! After 40 glorious, uninterrupted minutes, you'll never look back! And you'll be absolutely delighted when your relief arrives before shift change, you give your hand-off, and you find yourself on your way home right on time! The schedule is truly a cherry on top of a delicious slice of life here at Intermountain Medical Center's Operating Room. So are you ready to dig in? Apply today!
